Rev. Dr. Jimmy H. Johnson, Sr.

Pastor Jimmy Johnson was born in San Antonio, Texas but raised and attended public schools in Georgetown, Texas.   He grew up attending the Macedonia Baptist Church with his beloved family and has served in many areas of service.

He served 12 years of active and reserve duty in the United States Army where he completed his high school education.  Once he returned home, he finished Shaw’s Barber & Beauty College, and began cutting hair (his passion) for several years before working for the City of Austin where he held several positions and received numerous certificates.  While still cutting hair, and working for the city, he received his associate degree and retired from the city with 23 years of services as an Analysis/Vibration Engineer.

Pastor Johnson is very passionate about his love for God and has a zeal for sharing the “good news.”  He believes in Christ Jesus as God’s only Son and expresses this love through his work at the church, the community, and abroad.  Pastor Johnson announced his call to the ministry of God in October 1994, preached his first sermon at the Macedonia Baptist Church in March of 1995, and was ordained by the late Pastor W. A. Cartwright, Jr. that same year.  He accepted his leadership role of the Macedonia Baptist Church in October of 2000.

Pastor Johnson has continued his education by attending the following institutions where he has received various certificates, diplomas, and degrees:

  • Austin Baptist Association (Seminary Extension): Diploma
  • Austin Theological Seminary: Diploma
  • Mt Olive Bible Institute: Bachelor of Arts (Biblical Studies)
  • Mt Olive Bible Institute: Masters of Arts (Theology) / Doctorate (Divinity)

He currently serves as Vice President of the Southwest Region of Congress for Christian Education of the Baptist Missionary & Education Convention of Texas (B.M.&E.), a statewide organization and Moderator of the LaGrange Baptist District Association. He previously held titles as President of the Congress for Christian Education and the first Vice Moderator for the LaGrange Baptist District Association. Pastor Johnson is a teacher of Biblical Studies at the Mt. Olive Bible Institute; former President of the Georgetown Fellowship of Churches, and supporter of the Georgetown Cultural Citizen Memorial Association (GCCMA).

He and his wife of 55 years, the lovely Erma Johnson resides in Austin, Texas. They have three adult children: Cassandra, Jimmy Jr, and Shaniqua, and one grandson: Joshua.
